What is the best diagnostic tool for a Porsche in 2019 & 2020? It's a question I get asked every day and its unsurprising really, given that there are a huge range of tools on the market for 2019. I'm here to offer a little support and let you know about the best Porsche enthusiast DIY diagnostic tools for 2019.
Whether you have a Porsche 911, Cayman, Boxster, Panamera, Cayenne, Macan or even lucking enough to own a 918 or Carrera GT, I've got you covered. Generally, the tools will allow you to diagnose & reset a warning light such as the check engine light, airbag light, ABS PSM light, transmission or even just a service now message.
I'm not going to include the expensive dealer level Porsche diagnostic kits because they are out of reach of most DIY enthusiast mechanics.
1. Autel MD808 Pro.
The
Autel MD808 Pro is by far one of the best Automotive diagnostic tools on the market right now. It covers a huge range of cars, and a huge range of systems within those cars such as engine, abs, airbags, transmission, air conditioning, parking sensors, alarms, central locking, convertible roof & much more.
It also carries out special functions like forced DPF regeneration, oil service reset, electronic parking brake, new battery rehistration & more.
2. iCarsoft POR V1.0 (MY BEST PICK)
The
iCarsoft POR V1.0 is a fantastic little kit for any Porsche owner who is looking to maintain their car, and make sure their car is in great condition all year round. It will allow you to diagnose a wide range of systems within your Porsche such as engine, ABS PSM, PASM, airbags, transmission, service reset & more.
This is one of the best priced Porsche diagnostic tools available right now, and I have personally tried & tested this on a lot of Porsche cars with immediate success.
3. iCarsoft POR V2.0
The
iCarsoft POR V2.0 is a better version of the POR V1.0 but be careful, it's only a better tool if the extra features on this tool are suitable for your car. The POR V2.0 kit will do everything that the POR V1.0 kit will do, but has additional features such as DPF regeneration, EPB (electronic parking brake) and new battery registration. So this may be a great tool for your new Porsche Macan, but would serve you no benefit if you had a 987 Cayman (which does not have the additional systems installed to the car)
4. Launch CRP129 VIII
The
Launch CRP129 (VIII) is the workhorse of the list, it has been sucessfully diagnosing & resetting warning lights for a wide range of cars for about 6 years now & is a very popular tool because it covers the 4 main systems (engine, abs, airbags, transmission & service reset) for a wide range of cars on the road today. All in one nifty unit with an integrated screen.
5. iCarsoft POR-II
The
iCarsoft POR-II is basically an older version of the iCarsoft POR V2.0 kit, but still packs a punch and will allow you to diagnose a lot of systems within the Porsche cars, and also reset oil service messages. Be aware though, if you have a 986 Boxster or 996 991, this will be no good for ABS PSM or airbag faults, my advice is to go for the iCarsoft POR V2.0 kit.
I hope you have enjoyed this short guide. If you have any questions on any of these kits the nice people over at www.diagnostic-world.com will help you out.
